Leaked Assessment Alleges Soviet Arms Transfers to Communist Factions in Dea Dia
The Soviet Union is believed to be supplying weapons and materiel to communist-aligned factions across the Asteroid Republics of Dea Dia, according to private assessments leaked to the Champlain Group. Transfers of small arms, EVA suits, drones, and other equipment suited for low-gravity warfare have been observed on Salamis, Kumasi, and Banjuna-Mahara.
Though conducted through layers of intermediaries; freelance logistics operators, at least two of the system’s registered extraction companies, and other non-state actors, the assessment concludes that the transfers bear the hallmarks of state-directed supply in both the consistency of equipment type and the scale of delivery. It adds that some of those involved may have been unaware of the ultimate destination or purpose of the material.
Dea Dia's Asteroid Republics, loose confederations of independent mining and extraction settlements, have been marked by political instability and allegations of systemic corruption since the Second Solar War. Communist and labor-aligned factions have gained significant ground in several republics over the past two years, a trend analysts say may have accelerated following the revolution that ousted President Clayton Orr of Tetus in the neighboring Silvanus System.
